    Hi everyone,

I'm curious how other hospices handle PureWick catheters for patients.

Do you cover PureWick systems for patients who come home with them or request them, or do you only cover Foley catheters under your hospice benefit?

I also want to confirm that my understanding is correct: if our hospice chooses not to cover a PureWick, it can't be billed separately to Medicare and would instead need to be paid for out of pocket by the patient or family. Is that how others interpret and handle this?

If your hospice does not cover PureWick, how do you approach those conversations with patients and families? Do you explain that it isn't covered under your hospice benefit and would need to be purchased out of pocket?

I'm interested in learning how different hospices are approaching this from both a coverage and patient education perspective. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

    Thank you all!
