    Hi,

I work for a non-profit hospital hospice program.  As insurance-related cuts continue, I am being asked, as the manager, to implement productivity standards for our clinicians.  However, I could not find any national benchmarks or guidelines. How do you all measure clinician productivity in your organizations? and what are your expectations?

    Thank you,

    Alyne Eickert

Are you asking for productivity in a community based program or for an in-patient facility?

    Hello Alyne!

Up until last year, our program was combined home health and hospice, so we always modelled our hospice productivity on home health standards. We use a points model with different types of visits being worth different amounts. Our expectation is that a coworker should be able to complete 4-6 units/points in an 8 hour shift.

Below are some examples of how we weigh our visits from a recent training I did with our teams. I'm happy to send you more information if this kind of system is interesting to you.
