    In recent weeks the Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) issued its 2022 Report to Congress, which provides an update on the access, exchange, and use of electronic health information.  The report is an annual requirement enacted as part of the HITECH Act requiring that HHS submit a report to Congress:

    • Describing specific actions that have been taken by the federal government and private entities to facilitate the adoption of a nationwide system for the electronic use and exchange of health information;
    • Describing barriers to the adoption of such a nationwide system; and
    • Containing recommendations to achieve full implementation of such a nationwide system.
