Regarding the start-up of an adult hospice, please reach out to me directly at kwehri@allianceforcareathome.org Regarding the CAHPS Hospice Survey threshold, there is a participation exemption for size for hospices that have fewer than 50 survey-eligible decedents/caregivers in a calendar year. More information on this is available at: https://www.hospicecahpssurvey.org/en/participation-exemption-for-size/
There is also an exemption for hospices that are new, the Exemption for Newness. This exemption is based on how recently the hospice received its CCN, also known as the Medicare Provider Number. The criterion for this exemption is that the hospice must have received its CCN on or after the first day of the performance year for the CAHPS Hospice Survey. A hospice does not need to request this exemption. More information is available in the CAHPS Hospice Survey FAQs: https://www.hospicecahpssurvey.org/en/hospice-tools/hospice-specific-faqs/ and in the CAHPS Hospice Survey Quality Assurance Guidelines.

Hello,
Does anyone have information on the start-up of an Adult Hospice and know if it holds true that there must be 50 qualified patients to hit the threshold for HCHAPS?
