The Alliance heard this week that hospices are receiving HQRP non-compliance letters from CMS that are causing confusion. Specifically, the letters in the MyReports folder in iQIES appear, from the title, to be the routine annual notification letters of HQRP non-compliance that results in the 4% Annual Payment Update (APU) penalty. And, CMS has publicized that the non-compliance letters were made available in iQIES on August 5. However, the subject line of the letters is "RE: Waiver Notification for Q4 FY2027 HOPE Timeliness Reporting Annual Payment Update (APU)" and compliant hospices are receiving them. The body of the letter explains CMS' waiver of the Q4 FY2027 HOPE submissions in the timeliness compliance threshold calculation.
These letters are a notification of the waiver only and not a notification of non-compliance. There is no action hospices need to take based on this letter. The Alliance has reached out to CMS about this and will update this thread with additional information when it is received.
