As I am sure many hospice agencies are experiencing, in an attempt to drive down mortality rates in the acute care setting, we are seeing a lot more requests to admit patients GIP while the patient is still in the acute setting, the question that continuously comes up, what happens to the LOC and patient status once they no longer qualify for GIP because the patient is now palliated.

I am also interested in the answer to this question.  Can hospice provide Routine Home Care, in a hospital setting, when patient no longer meets GIP criteria but is too fragile to be discharged home?

We provide routine level of care when patients no longer qualify for GIP level of care. We have a contract for that rate.
