I'm wondering how other agencies handle verbal orders and who signs them. for example: the patient's attending provider is an MD, however wants his NP to sign all orders even though the orders have his name on them. Do you allow NP's to sign these orders? Historically, we only allow an alternative signature if that provider on the order is gone for an extended period of time, otherwise we make sure the provider on the order is the one who signs it.
