  • 1.  Hand hygiene auditing for Home health and Hospice settings

    I would love to hear how others are auditing for hand hygiene of staff in the home visits they complete.  Currently we do a competency but their is no great options for auditing during home visits outside of tag-alongs from IP or RN supervisor.  Would appreciate any ideas of how to do so.

    Great question Anna!  We're considering patient or caregiver reporting.  We're very early in our discussions.  I'm interested to hear if others have alternative suggestions.

    Our nurse educator makes supervisory visits to assess hand hygiene and bag technique in the home. This is something that Joint Commission always looks at when making their home visits, so we decided it would be best to assess in the field.

    If you don't mind I would love it if you could share the cadence in which this occurs?  IS there a certain number of observations that need to be completed? and if so how many per quarter/ month/ week?
