I have a coding question, if anyone is able to help.
Patient's hospital d/c summary indicates "major neurocognitive disorder, due to vascular disease, without behavioral disturbances, mild (HCC)".
Our coding department used ICD-10 code F01.A0 "vascular dementia, mild, without behavioral disturbance, psychotic disturbance, mood disturbance, and anxiety".
The spouse saw this and is questioning the diagnosis; she is not aware of a dementia diagnosis and is concerned with this wording.
I checked with our coding department and was told "Major Neurocognitive Disorder" is the same thing as/another name for Dementia.
Based on coding guidelines, is this that correct diagnosis code?
